Monroe won the last time they faced Dougherty and Kie'Aundria Acree did her part to make sure it happened again. The Golden Tornadoes greeted the New Year with with a 61-42 victory over the Trojans for which the team can thank Acree, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards. Her big performance that evening made it 42 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Maleyah Hines was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Alyssa Christian and Teaylia Hawkins certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Christian posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals, while Hawkins had nine points and eight boards. Sarai Hamilton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Monroe's record is now 11-1. As for Dougherty, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Monroe has already played their next contest, an 88-68 loss against Bob Jones on the 3rd. As for Dougherty, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-33 win against Peach County on the 6th.
