Baseball Recap: Mount Michael Benedictine Drops Season-High Score on Lincoln Lutheran

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Michael Benedictine). They blew past the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors 22-9 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Kyle Oldehoeft was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Bluvas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-6.

Oldehoeft wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mount Michael Benedictine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's a new trend for the Knights: they were averaging 3.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

Mount Michael Benedictine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Michael Benedictine will host Omaha South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Seward at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bluejays' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
