Baseball Recap: Sale Creek Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Sale Creek took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against South Pittsburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pirates 9-7. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Dylan Cunningham made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Tyler Marler was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Axl Swiney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Sale Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pittsburg only posted an OBP of .400.

Sale Creek's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Pittsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-18.

As of now, neither Sale Creek nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
