Baseball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Northridge Vikings

Johnstown-Monroe has gone a perfect 10-0 against Northridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Johnnies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Johnstown-Monroe and Licking Heights, and Licking Heights kept the tradition alive. The Johnnies fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.

Carter Holbrook made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Johnstown-Monroe: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Northridge earned a 5-1 victory over Zanesville on Wednesday.

Peyton McKenzie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Northridge's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brice Beaver, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kash Reeves was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Northridge's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Johnstown-Monroe beat Northridge 9-6 in their previous matchup back in April. Do the Johnnies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
