Baseball Recap: Zion-Benton Zee-Bees vs. Stevenson Patriots

Zion-Benton lost against Stevenson last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Zion-Benton Zee-Bees lost 11-1 to the Stevenson Patriots. Zion-Benton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Stevenson's part, Will Kerksick tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Jackson Merdalo was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Crawley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Stevenson, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zion-Benton will take on Ridgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stevenson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Stevenson is facing Vernon Hills at the right time seeing as Vernon Hills is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
