Softball Recap: Chugiak Wins High-Profile Game Against Service

Chugiak faced Service in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mustangs walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Cougars. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this contest were averaging 2.38 runs allowed.

Chugiak got a massive performance out of Brooklyn McCormick, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave McCormick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Celeste Mast, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Chugiak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Service, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Chugiak wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-3 victory against Dimond on the 14th. As for Service, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-10 loss against South Anchorage on the 14th.
