Basketball Recap: Monroe City Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Monroe City challenged Canton on Thursday. The Monroe City Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Canton Tigers, sneaking past 75-73. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 65-42 defeat.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Frazier, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. Preston Brewer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

The win made it two in a row for Monroe City and bumps their season record up to 11-2. As for Canton, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.

Monroe City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-50 victory against Palmyra on the 24th. As for Canton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-60 win against Van-Far on the 25th.
