Basketball Recap: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Comes Up Short

If Dr. Joaquin Garcia was feeling good fresh off their 57-26 takedown of FAU High last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Santaluces Chiefs on Wednesday.

It was another big night for Jaedeyn Garvin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds for Santaluces. Garvin is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lyiah Gaitor, who posted four points in addition to 12 rebounds and four blocks.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Santaluces, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia will host Calvary Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Santaluces, they will venture away from home to take on Cardinal Newman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
