The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds will stay at home for another game and welcome the Northland Prep Academy Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, BASIS Phoenix didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mountainside, but they still walked away with a 42-38 victory. The victory was just what BASIS Phoenix needed coming off of a 58-29 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Northland Prep Academy beat Pinon 50-44 on Saturday. The win was just what Northland Prep Academy needed coming off of a 74-52 defeat in their prior matchup.
Northland Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Joiner, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Mortensen, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
BASIS Phoenix's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Northland Prep Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
BASIS Phoenix was dealt a bruising 57-14 defeat at the hands of Northland Prep Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Joiner, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
