Baseball Recap: Gloucester Extends Winning Streak to Five

Gloucester came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Manor Mustangs a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Dukes have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Manor's batters probably weren't too happy with Brayden Scott, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up zero walks). Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Scott.

At the plate, Hank Hardaway was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jesse Jackson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

Gloucester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Gloucester pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Manor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gloucester will square off against Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dukes are facing the Hurricanes at the right time seeing as the Hurricanes are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Manor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Taylor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Titans will have lost three straight heading into Tuesday's game.
