Basketball Recap: Valmeyer Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Valmeyer extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bunker Hill Minutemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 63-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

As for Bunker Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Leading Bunker Hill to victory were Cole Yates and Bryce Yates. Cole went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points and seven boards, while Bryce shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Cole is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Peter Jarden was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Looking ahead, Valmeyer will head out to take on Marissa/Coulterville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Meteors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bunker Hill, they will be home for the holidays to greet Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
