Volleyball Recap: Otay Ranch's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins, Otay Ranch's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Scripps Ranch Falcons by a score of 2-1. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Otay Ranch started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-14, 15-11.

Otay Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Scripps Ranch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Otay Ranch and Scripps Ranch should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Mustangs will challenge Olympian at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th with a big rank advantage (164 vs. 587). Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch (ranked 37th) will meet Academy of Our Lady of Peace (ranked 145th) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
