Soccer Recap: Vancleave Comes Up Short

After flying high against Laurel last Friday, Vancleave came back down to earth. The Vancleave Bulldogs might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the East Central Hornets an easy 3-0 victory. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now lost five in a row.

Vancleave's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for East Central, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vancleave will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hancock at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. East Central will take on Purvis in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Central's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Purvis' offense will have their work cut out for them.
