Football Recap: McLane Highlanders vs. Hoover Patriots
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McLane). They claimed a resounding 58-13 win over the Hoover Patriots. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by 27 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Noah Zamora, who threw for 380 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown. Demetrius Simon was another key player, picking up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Hoover had strong showings from Justin Brewington, who threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and Julian Jimenez, who rushed for 101 yards on only 12 carries. A healthy portion of Brewington's aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Keon Hill.
The victory was the sixth in a row for McLane, bringing their record for this year to 9-1. As for Hoover, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. McLane will host Wasco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McLane knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Wasco likes a good challenge. As for Hoover, they will venture away from home to face off against Woodlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodlake will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight.
