Basketball Recap: Corning Comes Up Short

Corning lost against East Poinsett County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Corning Bobcats lost 68-42 to the East Poinsett County Warriors.

East Poinsett County was led to victory by Jacob Gaines and Tyrus Reel. Gaines went 9 for 14 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds, while Reel made all 5 shots he took for 11 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Reel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Williams, who posted seven points.

Corning dropped their record down to 7-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for East Poinsett County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Corning has already played their next matchup (against Buffalo Island Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Poinsett County has already played their next game, a 71-42 win against Piggott on the 23rd.
