Basketball Recap: Webster County Highlanders vs. Greenbrier West Cavaliers
The Webster County Highlanders waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They enjoyed a cozy 55-37 win over Greenbrier West. That's another feather in the cap for Webster County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Webster County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raydan Triplett led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Triplett hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Leichliter, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Webster County's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Greenbrier West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Webster County will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Braxton County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Highlanders are ranked 28th). Greenbrier West's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Red Devils at 11:00 a.m. on February 5th. Ravenswood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
