Softball Recap: Edgewood Comes Up Short

If Edgewood was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Cincinnati Christian on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Talawanda Brave on Friday, falling 9-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Brave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Wednesday.

Edgewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Wingert, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Madison Ferrell was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Talawanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Edgewood will head out to square off against Madison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mohawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Talawanda, they are taking a road trip to challenge Springboro at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Brave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
