Basketball Recap: Louisville Comes Up Short

Louisville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Raymond Central Mustangs and fell 59-27. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Mustangs are ranked 34th).

Despite the loss, Louisville had strong showings from Noelle Larson, who posted 11 points and three steals, and Taylor Staben, who put up four points. Larson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Raymond Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Teneyck out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Teneyck a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Quincy Cotter, who scored eight points along with eight steals and six rebounds.

Louisville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Raymond Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Louisville has already played their next game, a 70-32 loss against Arlington on the 14th. As for Raymond Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-36 victory against Fort Calhoun on the 14th.
