Southern is on a three-game streak of home wins, while the Panthers are on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Southern Bulldogs will take on the Annapolis Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Southern gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Calvert 54-6 on the road. While fans of Southern might be used to big wins, the 48-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabrielle Tompkins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sidney Shaw, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Annapolis didn't have too much trouble with the Gophers on the road on Wednesday as they won 48-32.
Southern's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Annapolis, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
