Basketball Recap: Neel Deas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Community Baptist

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Winston-Salem Prep, Phoenix Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They secured a 70-65 W over the Community Baptist Conqueror. For the Firebirds, this counts as revenge for the 54-50 win the Conqueror walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Phoenix Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Neel Deas, who went 8 of 19 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Those 19 points gave Deas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Davis, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Phoenix Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Phoenix Academy's record now sits at 5-15. As for Community Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Phoenix Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-44 victory against Triad Math and Science Academy on the 29th. Community Baptist has also already played their next contest, a 71-30 loss against Alamance Christian on the 30th.
