Recap: Dakota Cougars vs. Lakeview Huskies

The Dakota Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-7 win over Lakeview. Given Dakota's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Lakeview is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Brady Hamby, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. Dakota also got help from Keleb Pritchard who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Dakota's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.4 points per game. As for Lakeview, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.

Dakota will head out on the road to face off against Chippewa Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chippewa Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Dakota likes a good challenge. Lakeview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
