Softball Game Preview: Delaware County Christian Knights vs. Dock Mennonite Pioneers

Delaware County Christian hasn't had much luck against Dock Mennonite recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Delaware County Christian has given up an average of 16.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Delaware County Christian is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Christian Academy. Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against The Christian Academy since on Thursday.

Maryn D'Antonio and Julliet Jackson stepped up to the plate in a big way. D'Antonio went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jackson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Corina Debellis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Dock Mennonite's offense. They came up short against Bristol on Thursday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Pioneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Dock Mennonite moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Delaware County Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Delaware County Christian might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Dock Mennonite in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
