Baseball Recap: Palmyra Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Palmyra won the last time they faced Medford Tech and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers walked away with a 10-5 win over the Jaguars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Anthony Morgenstern made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Palmyra: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Justin Dellisanti was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Dean Maute was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Palmyra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Medford Tech only posted an OBP of .312.

Palmyra pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Medford Tech, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmyra will face off against Pennsauken at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Medford Tech, they will square off against Westampton Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
