Baseball Recap: Suncoast Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Suncoast's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Tocoi Creek Toros. Suncoast's victory was all the more impressive since the Toros were averaging only 3.53 runs allowed on the season.

Charlie Straub looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, John Cimbella was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Burnston, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Suncoast pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.8 hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. As for Tocoi Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Suncoast will venture away from home to square off against Nease at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tocoi Creek, they will welcome Trinity Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
