Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Beats Goshen for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Mishawaka barely beat Goshen the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cavemen never let the RedHawks get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Cavemen brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Braedyn Smith, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamdon Putz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win (which was Mishawaka's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Goshen, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Mishawaka will challenge South Bend Riley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Goshen, they will square off against Plymouth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
