Gruver has won six straight games at home, while Ropes has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Greyhounds will challenge the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gruver is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 40-14 margin over Wink. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Wildcats are ranked 519th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Briggs Satterfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 145 yards and five TDs, while also throwing for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Mason Lankford was in the mix as well, providing Gruver with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gruver was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Gruver didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Satterfield and Lankford, who each picked up one interception apiece.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Ropes on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Farwell out of the water with a 67-0 final score. The Eagles pushed the score to 46-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Steers had no chance of recovering from.
Ropes' win came from a few key players Gruver will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kade Franklin, who threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also caught one TD. Ryland Kieth was another key player, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of scores.
Ropes' defense made their presence known, laying out Kolson Allen three times. Kaden Riker was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Gruver's record is now 10-2. As for Ropes, their record now sits at 11-1.
Gruver beat Ropes 34-21 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
