Softball Recap: Barstow Extends Winning Streak to Three

Barstow extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 6-12 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Silverado Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Aztecs: when they faced off against the Hawks on April 2nd, they had to take a 17-12 loss.

Elizibeth Arreola was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Mia-Cali Zamora was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Silverado, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

On Silverado's side, Alexis Rodriguez put in work no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Aryhana Shyne and Valerie Beltran stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shyne went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Beltran went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Valdez, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Barstow will have a chance to go back-to-back against Silverado: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
