Softball Recap: Seminole Takes a Loss

Seminole had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 12-8 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the East Lake Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Seminoles have suffered since March 4th.

As for East Lake, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For East Lake's part, Lucy Mondok was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Mondok has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Meagan Bostak was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Leah Data was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Seminole will face off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Seminoles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Lake, they will welcome Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Wolves have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
