Basketball Recap: Lyrik Pettis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northwest Cabarrus

Crest had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 64-58 win over the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Crest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lyrik Pettis led the charge by going 6-for-13 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Pettis' big performance that evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. D'Various Surratt was another key player, putting up 19 points and six boards.

Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Crest's record is now 21-3. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

Coming up, Crest will take on Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 games -- so hopefully Oak Grove likes a good challenge. Northwest Cabarrus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
