After both having extra time off, the El Camino Eagles and the River Valley Falcons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
El Camino came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Rio Americano, falling 3-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 29-27, 25-18.
Meanwhile, River Valley entered their tilt with Placer on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Hillmen 3-0.
River Valley not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Placer between 17 and 19 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.
El Camino better focus on containing Shaan Bachra and Jude Trojan as the pair were huge in River Valley's win. Bachra had nine digs and two aces, while Trojan had eight kills, eight digs, three aces, and one block. Trojan has been hot, having posted seven or more kills the last six times he's played.
River Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matches.
River Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-7. As for El Camino, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
