Volleyball Recap: Vandalia Takes a Loss

Vandalia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Gillespie Miners. The Vandals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Miners from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Vandalia ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-18.

Vandalia's loss dropped their record down to 2-26-1. As for Gillespie, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-18 record this season.

Vandalia and Gillespie could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Vandals (ranked 649th) will meet Carlyle (ranked 201st) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Gillespie will take on Carrollton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (432 vs. 170).
