Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Orioles vs. Springport Spartans

The Charlotte Orioles will take on the Springport Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Charlotte turned things around against Lakewood on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vikings 40-38. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Orioles were the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charlotte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Howarth, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Avery Silvas, who had 12 points and five assists.

Charlotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Springport was able to grind out a solid win over Reading on Thursday, taking the game 56-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Rangers are ranked 191st).

Springport's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Charlotte, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
