Football Game Preview: Greenwich Witches vs. Stillwater Warriors

The Greenwich Witches will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Stillwater Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Greenwich 2.6, Stillwater 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Greenwich is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Rensselaer/Loudonville Christian 71-6 on Friday. Considering the Witches have won four contests by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Stillwater entered their tilt with Canajoharie/Fort Plain on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down Canajoharie/Fort Plain 21-7.

Stillwater's win came from a few key players Greenwich will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caleb Vacula, who rushed for 143 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. Aidan Callanan helped out on the ground, rushing for 87 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Stillwater was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 247 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Greenwich's record now sits at 5-0. As for Stillwater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Greenwich against Stillwater in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 36-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Witches since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
