Recap: Coventry Oakers vs. West Warwick Wizards
There's no place like home for the Coventry Oakers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against West Warwick by a score of 70-60 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Coventry to victory were Tyler Broady and Logan Voelker. Broady scored 20 points along with seven assists and two blocks, while Voelker dropped a double-double on 30 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Voelker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Whited, who scored six points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why West Warwick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Hall. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. Hall has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Stearns, who scored 16 points.
Coventry has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for West Warwick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Coventry will look to defend their home court on Monday against Toll Gate at 6:30 p.m. Coventry is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for West Warwick, they will head out on the road to face off against North Smithfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. West Warwick knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully North Smithfield likes a good challenge.
