Volleyball Recap: Weymouth Comes Up Short

Weymouth came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Needham Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 25-11.

Avery Greene paced Weymouth's offense, picking up four kills. Greene got some help from Alina Goldstein and her five assists.

Needham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lillian Soulia led the charge by getting 11 digs and two aces. Those 11 digs gave Soulia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Iris Zhang, who had five digs and two aces.

Weymouth dropped their record down to 4-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Needham, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Weymouth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Milton on the 20th. As for Needham, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Braintree on the 20th.
