Baseball Recap: Bishop McDevitt Find Success

Bishop McDevitt got themselves on the board against Red Land on Monday, but Red Land never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Patriots 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 on Saturday.

Not much got past Tyler Shroy, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Red Land off the board. Shroy is becoming a predictor of Bishop McDevitt's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

The win made it two in a row for Bishop McDevitt and bumps their season record up to 7-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Red Land, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Bishop McDevitt and Red Land could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Crusaders will challenge Trinity at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (330 vs. 144). Meanwhile, Red Land (ranked 360th) will meet Northeastern (ranked 173rd) at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
