Basketball Recap: Leslie County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tripp Brashear and Jesse Hoskins

After flying high against Berea last Friday, Leslie County came back down to earth. The Leslie County Eagles fell just short of the Letcher County Central Cougars / Lady Cougars by a score of 54-51 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 74-57 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.

Leslie County's loss came despite strong showings from Jesse Hoskins and Tripp Brashear. Hoskins went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc to rack up 24 points and three steals, while Brashear posted eight points in addition to 13 boards and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Hoskins a new career-high in points. Jayden Hacker was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Leslie County now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Letcher County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leslie County will face off against Knox Central at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Letcher County Central, they will welcome Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
