Softball Game Preview: Orange Park Raiders vs. Beachside Barracudas

The Orange Park Raiders will challenge the Beachside Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Orange Park has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Orange Park came up short against Ridgeview on Tuesday, falling 12-3. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Orange Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Pascoe, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Addison Toledo was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Beachside never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past St. Joseph Academy 12-0. The Barracudas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Vita Lagattolla was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was C Harris, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple.

The victory made it two in a row for Beachside and bumps their season record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Orange Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orange Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Beachside struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
