Softball Recap: California Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for California's offense. They fell just short of the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Monarchs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gabriella Nudo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

California's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Archbishop Mitty, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2-1.

Looking ahead, California will be taking part in a tournament against Freedom at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Archbishop Mitty, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Liberty on the 11th.
