Soccer Game Preview: Chambers vs. Hough

Chambers is 0-10 against Hough since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will challenge the Huskies at 7:00 p.m.

Chambers will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against West Mecklenburg on Tuesday. The Cougars' defense stepped up to hand the Hawks a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Chambers, who have now won four games by five goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hough faced Ardrey Kell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw. The result kept Hough happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Their goal came courtesy of Ava Hauser, who's now up to 11 this season.

Chambers has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matchups. Hough's draw gives them a new season record of 15-0-1.

Chambers might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Hough when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
