Baseball Recap: Paris Takes a Loss

Paris had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 15-19 to make it four. They came up short against the Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thorobreds/Fillies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 back in March.

Paris saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Francis, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Francis has become a key player for the Greyhounds: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 11-18 otherwise. Another was Landon Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Harrison County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Harrison County's side, Donavan Walker was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dray Roberts, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paris will welcome Bath County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.59 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harrison County, they will host Campbell County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
