Softball Recap: Elkhart Takes a Loss

South Bend Saint Joseph hit Elkhart with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 8-7. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bailey Harris-Rogers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Wagner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Elkhart's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.

Coming up, South Bend Saint Joseph will take on Mishawaka Marian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elkhart will be paying especially close attention to the Huskies' contest: after the Huskies face off against the Knights, they'll take on Elkhart again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
