Softball Recap: Bangor Has No Trouble Against Lawrence

Bangor never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Lawrence Tigers 21-0. Considering the Vikings have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabelle Horvath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Carley McCoy and Alexis Wisniewski did most of the damage at the plate: McCoy went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Wisniewski went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most doubles McCoy has posted since back in May of 2024. Josephine Snyder was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Bangor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Bangor's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Lawrence, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
