Softball Recap: Palmer's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

While Palmer's victory against Corsicana wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Palmer Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Corsicana Tigers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 9, 2024.

Kenli Dobie was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Dobie wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Peyton Yates was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Palmer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in seven consecutive matches.

The win snapped Palmer's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-5-1 record. As for Corsicana, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4-1 record this season.

Palmer will take on Red Oak in a tournament on Friday. Palmer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Corsicana, they will take on Montgomery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
