Softball Recap: Boswell Pioneers vs. Crowley Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boswell). Everything went their way against the Crowley Eagles on Friday as the Boswell Pioneers made off with an 18-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Addy Watson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Harley Malone looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Boswell got a big performance out of Samantha Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Dallas Rutter, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
