Preview: Franklin Classical School Knights vs. Franklin Road Christian Minutemen
The Franklin Classical School Knights's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Franklin Classical School won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune last Saturday. They took a serious blow against Upperman, falling 69-35. While losing is never fun, Franklin Classical School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Upperman is ranked 47th).
Franklin Road Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Zion Christian Academy by a score of 77-75. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Franklin Road Christian has suffered yet this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Noah Pence, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Pence is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Walker, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Franklin Classical School's record now sits at 16-6. Franklin Road Christian's record is now 14-8.
Franklin Classical School suffered a grim 79-55 defeat to Franklin Road Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Franklin Classical School, Parker Applegate (who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
