Basketball Recap: Southwest Legacy Takes a Loss

Southwest Legacy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 46-29 to the South San Antonio Bobcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-50 back in November of 2024.

Jewel Alvarez was a one-woman wrecking crew for South San Antonio as she went 8 for 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Alvarez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Esther Olivio, who posted eight points and four steals.

Southwest Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20. As for South San Antonio, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-12.

Southwest Legacy and South San Antonio could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Southwest Legacy (ranked 935th) will meet MacArthur (ranked 132nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South San Antonio (ranked 554th) will meet McCollum (ranked 90th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
