Basketball Recap: Burke Takes a Loss

Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Gregory Gorillas and fell 96-20. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jayder Schonebaum was Burke's leading scorer, having posted six points. Brody Indahl held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Gregory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lincoln Juracek, who went 8 of 13 en route to 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Juracek a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Bolander, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Gregory, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Burke wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-35 defeat against Gayville-Volin on the 18th. As for Gregory, they will face off against Kimball/White Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gregory is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.
