Baseball Recap: Legacy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Valor Christian

Legacy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Valor Christian Eagles by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lightning in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Chase Hoelting made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Schoenheider, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple.

The victory got Valor Christian back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on ThunderRidge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Valor Christian, they will take on Franklin in a tournament on Monday. Franklin's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Valor Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
