Football Game Preview: Rockwall Yellowjackets vs. Tyler Legacy Raiders

Rockwall is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Tyler Legacy a six-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Rockwall Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Tyler Legacy Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Rockwall has given up an average of 31 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Rockwall after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Forney. The defeat came about despite the Yellowjackets having been up 22 in the first quarter.

Rockwall might have lost, but man, Brent Rickert was a machine: he rushed for 63 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 289 yards and one TD. The Yellowjackets are 2-1 when Rickert posts 250 or more passing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Jett Lamb was another key player, picking up 104 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Tyler Legacy had to suffer through a 63-20 loss at the hands of Longview. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Lobos are ranked 38th).

Despite the loss, Tyler Legacy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bam White rushed for 84 yards and three TDs.

Tyler Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Rockwall, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Rockwall against Tyler Legacy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 63-27 win. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
